Indonesian Marble Industry Tulungagung (IMIT) was incorporated in 1961 by the government of the Republic of Indonesia under presidential decree no. 461 of 1961. It is the first marble factory established in Indonesia. Prior to the Second World War, survey of marble deposits and quality of stones was conducted by then colonial government.
In 1994, current owner purchased IMIT from the government of the Republic of Indonesia. Current owner has invested in modern Italian machineries for marble extractions from quarry and to process marble stones in it’s factory. IMIT’S quarry covers marble deposits over 25 hectares.
Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of IMIT is from Australia with 20 years experience in multinational logistics, manufacturing and distribution entities. CEO is a member of CPA Australia and holds Masters of Commerce degree from the University of Sydney.

IMIT directly and indirectly employs thousands of local people, it can be said that IMIT is the main source of income for communities in the region. It also contributes in local road building and orphanage.
